The problem
I’m a student nurse. Like a lot of students on my course, I found that keeping track of where I needed to be was a job in itself. Timetables came as separate documents for each module, changes were easy to miss, and fitting placement shifts around teaching meant juggling rosters, emails and screenshots.
None of that is what nursing students should be spending their energy on.
A solution for other students
So I built the tools I wished I’d had, and made them available to other students.
Timetable Creator turns every module timetable into one clear timetable and a calendar on your phone. Placement Rota keeps your placement shifts on one roster that you can share with your placement area and your practice supervisor.
One price for your whole course
Students shouldn’t have another monthly subscription to keep track of. Timetable Creator costs £4.99 for 36 months, which is long enough to cover a typical three-year degree. Nothing renews automatically. Placement Rota is free while we test it.
Working with health boards and universities
My hope is that health boards will adopt this approach alongside universities, so that students, practice supervisors and programme teams can all work from the same clear picture of where students need to be.
Student Tech is independent and isn’t run by any university or health service, but we’d welcome the chance to work with them.
